A Culture of Excellence

The Jackson Reed Tigers Football program is committed to developing the physical talents and character of the athletes in our program. We believe that football can be a powerful tool for teaching the importance of discipline, toughness, relentless effort, and teamwork.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to create a positive culture that values Greatness, Resilience, Integrity, and Teamwork (G.R.I.T.). We believe that these four qualities are essential for success on and off the field.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to set the standard of excellence, by which all others will follow. We want to be a program that is known for its hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence.

Culture Pillars

Our culture is built on four pillars:

  • Discipline: We believe that discipline is essential for success in all areas of life. We teach our players to be disciplined in their work ethic, their attitude, and their behavior.
  • Toughness: We believe that toughness is essential for overcoming challenges and adversity. We teach our players to be mentally and physically tough, and to never give up.
  • Relentless Effort: We believe that relentless effort is the key to success. We teach our players to never take a play off, and to always give their best effort.
  • Teamwork: We believe that teamwork is essential for winning. We teach our players to put the team first, and to work together to achieve their goals.

Coaching Philosophy

Our coaching philosophy is based on the belief that every player has the potential to be great. We believe that our players can achieve their full potential if they are given the right environment and support. We create a positive and supportive environment where our players feel safe to take risks and learn from their mistakes. We also provide our players with the resources they need to succeed, both on and off the field.

We believe that the Jackson Reed Tigers Football program is a special place where athletes can learn and grow. We are committed to creating a positive culture that values G.R.I.T. We believe that this culture will help our players achieve their full potential in school, work, and life.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Participation Forms

All students must complete a participation packet each school year. The packet should be submitted before the start of the school year. If your forms are not current, your player cannot play.

The packet includes a Universal Health Certificate (UHC) and, for students with certain medical conditions, an Asthma Action Plan or an Anaphylaxis Action Plan. You can submit your completed participation packet to Coach Rodgers.

  • UHC. The UHC is a medical form that provides information about your child's health history and current medications. It is important that the UHC be completed each year. We encourage you to have your healthcare provider complete the UHC before the school year.
  • Asthma Action Plan. If your child has asthma, they will need to complete an Asthma Action Plan. The Asthma Action Plan is a written plan that tells you what to do if your child has an asthma attack. It is important that you and your child's healthcare provider review the Asthma Action Plan together and make sure that you understand it.
  • Anaphylaxis Action Plan. If your child has a severe allergy, they will need to complete an Anaphylaxis Action Plan. The Anaphylaxis Action Plan is a written plan that tells you what to do if your child has an allergic reaction. It is important that you and your child's healthcare provider review the Anaphylaxis Action Plan together and make sure that you understand it

Coach Rodgers' Vision for the Program

I am honored to be the Head Football Coach at Jackson Reed High School. I believe that football can be a powerful tool for developing outstanding young men of character.

From day one, my focus has been on building confidence in our young men and setting a standard of excellence off the field and on the field. I want our players to know that they are important and that they have value beyond what happens on Friday nights.

I also believe that it is our job as coaches to find out how each player learns and to tailor our coaching style to their individual needs. We will not tolerate negativity in our program. We are here to help our players succeed, and we believe that a positive attitude is essential to achieving our goals.

On the field, the Tigers will be an aggressive team that plays with passion. We will also be a fundamentally sound team. Our coaches will focus on teaching the fundamentals of the game, and we will practice with a purpose every day. We want our players to be able to execute their plays with precision and to play with confidence.

I am excited to create excitement at Jackson Reed High School and make the Tigers a flagship program. Jackson Reed is an exceptional school with so much to offer. With the help of our community, we will make it a great place to grow, learn, and succeed.
