ABOUT INDOOR TRACK

Wilson’s Indoor Track teams are formidable. Both the Girls & Boys Cross Country teams the reigning DCIAA champions 8 years running. Additionally, both teams are consistently in the top 3 teams at the DCSAA state championship meet every year. Impressively, in 2018 the Girls team became the first ever public school to win the DCSAA (state) Cross Country title. We’ve sent several student-athletes to run at the collegiate level.

Head Coach - Girls

Originally from Bainbridge Island, Washington. 3 Sport Athlete in High School (Cross Country, Basketball and Track) Graduated from Washington State University, competed for their Division 1 Cross Country and Track Teams (Steeplechase & 5K).  Moved to DC in 2012, began coaching at Washington Lee HS in Arlington, VA.  Masters Degree from American University.  USATFCCCA DC Girls Coach of the Year 2018.  USATF Level 1 Certified Coach.  Entering 3rd season as XC / TF Coach at Wilson High School.

Tia Clemmons

Head Coach - Boys

Tia Clemmons (aka, Coach TC) is a Health Educator, Department Chair, Archery Coach, Wilson Unified Coach, and Head Track & Field and Cross-Country Boys Coach at Woodrow Wilson Senior High School. In this role, she empowers her students and athletes to become the most successful version of themselves. Coach TC is a big believer in academics and character. She stresses that success and winning is a byproduct of all the hard work you put in.

Recruited as a member of the Track & Field Team on a full athletic scholarship, Tia Clemmons earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology with a minor in Sports Administration from Howard University. She earned her Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Trinity Washington University.

Coach TC has seventeen years of coaching experience in Track & Field. She has coached on the collegiate level prior to coaching 6-18 yrs old. Her athletes reach national recognition for their abilities in Track & Field. Coach TC has coached nationally and internationally ranked athletes from the 55 meters-800 meters. In 2015, Coach TC joined the Woodrow Wilson HS Tigers community, she has held the positions of Head Track & Field Coach for Girls and Boys Indoor from 2016-2019, Outdoor Head Coach for Boys Track & Field from 2016-present and Assistant Cross-Country Coach 2016 and 2017. TC has earned Coach of the Year 2017, 2018 and 2019 on the Local, State and National levels since joining the Wilson Coaching Staff. Fall 2019 is Coach TC’s first year as Boys Head Cross Country Coach at Wilson High School.

Assistant Coach

Coach Tameka Richardson serves as the Assistant Coach for Cross Country, Indoor Track & Field, and Outdoor Track & Field at Woodrow Wilson High School. California born and Florida raised, Coach Tameka ran cross country and track & field throughout middle and high school where she specialized in the 5K, 4x800, 800, 400, and 4x400. In these events Coach Tameka has participated as a Qualifier and Top 20 Finisher on both the Conference and State levels (Western Conference, FHSAA State, Florida Relays).

Coach Tameka has her Bachelors from The University of South Florida in Tampa, FL and Masters Degree & Graduate Certificate from Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. Professionally, Coach Tameka is a Director in Washington DC for a non-profit international Christian outreach organization called Young Life. It is this position that relocated her from The Sunshine State to The District in 2016 and helped start her coaching career on a high school level. Coach Tameka is a NFHS Accredited Certified Coach, a DCIAA Certified Coach, and a DCSAA Certified Coach.
